The intention of my final W400 Capstone project is to tell the story of a highly significant and influential part of my childhood.  Through the use of a series of stories told from the perspective of my second grade self, I recount various memorable happenings from my time living in Mexico.  Through such anecdotes, I look to bring to light the ways in which Mexican and American culture differ as well as reflect upon the many life lessons that the experience allotted me.

All too often, our perceptions of life abroad are determined and characterized by the media’s portrayals.  Through telling my firsthand story, my hope is to open the eyes of readers, grant them with a new and different perspective, and inspire appreciation for how truly fortunate we are to live in America.

Individually, each story is intended to address a specific facet of my Mexico experience.  With the exception of stories 2 and 3 (“Pringles Predicament” and ‘Yo Soy “Tonto’”), which compliment one another, each account stands on its own under the umbrella topic of “Life in Mexico.”  For a sort of preface to the project, I would recommend reading the story linked to the “Mexico” button/drop-down tab first, then working your way down from there.  Each story can be accessed by clicking on the buttons to the right (Word document form) or by selecting a story from the "W400 Project" drop-down menu (online form).

Hopefully, through the reading of my project, you will be taken on a first-person journey of wonder and new experiences that enlightens your understanding of what life for me was like living in Mexico.  Enjoy!
